Unionsbräu is Back

August 01, 2017

Goulash at Unionsbräu in Munich Haidhausen

Unionsbräu is back! Last year this Haidhausen institution reopened again after a pause of nearly three years. In its long history (founded 1895) it has merged with Löwenbräu, one of the major Munich breweries.

Unfortunately, Unionsbräu does not brew its own beer in the restaurant anymore. You can drink beer from the Löwenbräu group instead. The food is typical Bavarian fare like Münchner Schnitzel and Schweinebraten. I tried the beer coachman goulash. Its taste was fine and delicate with an inkling of beer flavor. The Apfelstrudel with vanilla sauce was good.

Definitely one of the top Bavarian restaurants in Haidhausen.
